High-Performance
Built for how athletes actually move.
Sport-specific strength and conditioning equipment, designed around angles, the nervous system and the muscle firing patterns your sport demands.
Engineered and built in-house in South Africa, and trusted by every rugby union in the country.
Designed for what the sport on the field actually demands
Equipment built for a purpose, not a commercial gym floor.
High-performance equipment is strength and conditioning equipment purpose-built for a specific movement, strength level or sport, rather than for general fitness. It's designed around the angles the body works at, how the nervous system responds to load, and the muscle firing patterns an athlete needs on the field, the court or the track.
Walk into the training facility of a professional team overseas, in the NFL or in athletics, and it looks nothing like a commercial gym. That gap is where One More started. Werner Dreyer, our founder, saw that South African athletes didn't have access to sport-specific equipment unless it was imported at enormous cost. So we started building it ourselves.
Today, pieces like the Counter Scrum and the Gluteus, both born in our workshop, are standard kit in South African rugby's high-performance gyms. Up to 90% of what we build is used across rugby, netball and other field sports, by men and women alike. The rest is highly specialised work, like a resisted swim system that keeps drag consistent from metre one to metre thirty.
Angles. Nervous system. Firing patterns.
Every machine we build starts with how the human body produces force, not with what's easiest to copy from a commercial gym.
1.
The right angles.
Athletes don't produce force the way lifters do. Powerlifting generates force out of the heels. Sport generates it out of the ball of the foot. Equipment built around the wrong one trains the wrong pattern, so we design every station around the positions your sport actually puts the body in.
2.
The nervous system.
Strength isn't only muscle. Some of our equipment exists specifically to load the nervous system, and some exists to deload it between high-intensity sessions. Get that balance wrong across a season and a conditioning plan stops holding up.
3.
Firing patterns.
A prop, a netball centre and a sprinter all need muscles to fire in a specific order to be efficient. Our equipment is designed to train that order, and in some cases to expose when it's wrong. The Counter Scrum simply won't move if the force isn't coming from the glutes.
"It's about not doing the cookie-cutter machines that's out there, but stuff that's scientifically proven to actually work with the muscles in the way it's intended."
Werner Dreyer, Founder
That's also why our team includes draftsmen, engineers and a doctor, not just welders. Every design is calculated before it's built.

Born in our workshop
There's only one Counter Scrum.
It isn't a weight machine. It's a technique machine. Shift your force to your back, your quads, or the wrong side, and it goes nowhere. The harder you fight it with bad form, the less it moves. Get your technique right, drive from the The Counter Scrum is a technique machine first. If the main force isn't coming from your glutes, or you shift pressure left or right, or you lean on your back or quads, it won't move. The better the technique, the easier it works. Loaded with a combination of tension and weight, it shows coaches exactly how a player's body is working in a scrum, and who has what it takes to become a prop.lutes, and it starts to work with you. Coaches use it to see, in real time, who has what it takes to play prop.
We built it years before it made headlines. Today it's used by the Springboks and by unions across South Africa.
Every union in South Africa has some of our equipment.
From school first-team gyms to professional union high-performance centres — including the Springboks' conditioning setup — our equipment is built to handle daily use across full squads, not just showroom conditions.
We're also very involved in the netball scene, and expanding into hockey and athletics on the same principle: the equipment is designed around the human body, and the loading and movements carry across sport with the right adjustments.
Our equipment can take the force
Athletes break normal equipment. We build for that.
Athletes get extremely explosive and strong, and the forces they put through equipment are violent. Much of the imported equipment on the market is built from 0.8mm to 1.2mm steel, mass-produced by the thousand for a thin margin. It isn't designed to survive a professional squad.
Everything we make is manufactured in-house, down to the bushings and plastic components most manufacturers buy in. Werner is on the workshop floor every day and checks every delivery. That's why parts stay available for years, and why a repair doesn't turn into a replacement.
It's also why every new attachment we release is designed to bolt onto equipment you already own. A high-performance gym should be able to adapt when a coach changes the programme, not get thrown out because a new coach walked in.
"Gym equipment is not something you buy every year. You have to buy right the first time."
Werner Dreyer, Founder
Frequently asked questions
What is high-performance gym equipment?
High-performance equipment is strength and conditioning equipment purpose-built for a specific movement, strength level or sport. It's designed around the angles the body works at, the nervous system and the muscle firing patterns an athlete needs, rather than general fitness.
How is it different from commercial gym equipment?
Commercial gym equipment is built for general fitness and often copies a powerlifting setup, which generates force from the heels. Sport generates force from the ball of the foot, so our equipment is designed around the positions and patterns athletes actually use. It's also built from heavier steel to handle the explosive force athletes produce.
Is it only for rugby?
No. Rugby is where we're best known, but up to 90% of our equipment is used across rugby, netball and other field sports by both men and women. We're expanding into hockey and athletics, and we build specialised equipment for sports like swimming.
Who uses One More high-performance equipment?
Every rugby union in South Africa has some of our equipment, including the Springboks. We also supply schools, universities and clubs, and work with rugby in the United States.
Can I use high-performance equipment in a home gym?
Yes. Many of our racks, bars, sleds and attachments work in a home setup, and they're built to the same standard. See our Home Gym equipment page for pieces sized for smaller spaces.
Will new attachments fit the equipment I already own?
Yes. Every new attachment and upgrade is designed to bolt onto existing One More equipment wherever possible, so you can add to your setup without replacing it.
Do you install the equipment?
Yes. Our dedicated installation team sets everything up and walks your coaching staff through it before leaving.
Do you offer payment options for a full high-performance centre?
Yes. We offer flexible payment options on high-performance centre builds, so you can get the complete setup from the start instead of building it out over several years. See Facilities & Schools.
What's the warranty?
Manufacturing defects are repaired or replaced. Equipment that's been abused is repaired as cost-efficiently as possible rather than refused. See Warranty.
Can you build something that isn't in the range?
Yes. Our in-house draftsmen, engineers and doctor can design a new piece or modify an existing one to your spec. See Custom Builds & Rehab.
