Our story
We didn't start in a lab. We started in a workshop.
One More Fitness Systems is a South African manufacturer of sport-specific strength and conditioning equipment, founded by Werner Dreyer.
Every machine is designed with our in-house draftsmen, engineers and resident doctor, and built in our own workshop for rugby unions including the Springboks, schools, clinics and home gyms.
Starting small
A mechanic, not a sports scientist.
Werner Dreyer didn't come to gym equipment from a coaching badge or a sports science degree. After school he went to work with his father as a mechanic. Mechanics learn to do everything: weld, grind, fabricate, fix. He was good at it. He just didn't love it.
What he did love was training. He'd played sport at school and spent his weekends racing off-road bikes, and he kept noticing the same gap. Look at the gyms professional athletes train in overseas, in the NFL or in athletics, and it isn't the equipment you'd find in a commercial gym. It's built for a sport, a movement, a specific kind of strength. In South Africa, that equipment barely existed.
So he started building it himself. Small at first. A few pieces, then a few more, then a business.
"I saw that there's not really sport-specific gym equipment. If you look overseas at the gyms of the guys in sport, it's not normal stuff. So I started to play around, build some stuff, and eventually started slowly and small with a business."

Growing
Then he met Jacus Coetzee.
Jacus was already training South African athletes the way the best in the world were being trained overseas. To do it, he was importing equipment, and importing it was very, very expensive.
When Werner showed him what he wanted to build, and saw what Jacus was doing, the answer was obvious. Stop importing. Build it here, properly, for the athletes who'd actually use it. That's where One More Fitness Systems really began.
It's still how we work today. A coach tells us what their athletes need, and we go and build it.
Equipment nobody else was making.
Some of the most useful equipment in South African high-performance sport started as a problem a coach brought to our workshop.
The Counter Scrum
Built five or six years before it started making headlines, the Counter Scrum is now in every rugby union in South Africa, including the Springboks. It's a technique machine: if a player's force isn't coming from the glutes, it goes nowhere. There's still only one, and we make it.
The Smart Scrum
The Smart Scrum introduces advanced resistance control, allowing for the meticulous simulation of in-game scenarios. This unique feature challenges players by replicating the varying dynamics of real matches, thereby improving their performance and resilience in actual game situations.
The Gluteus
One of the first machines to come out of our workshop, designed to build the glute-driven force every sport depends on.
The right angles
It's not just welding stuff together.
Anywhere a human body is involved, it comes down to angles, the nervous system and muscle firing patterns. Get the angle wrong and you train the wrong muscle. That's why every piece of equipment we make is calculated before a single piece of steel is cut.
We have in-house draftsmen and engineers who design every machine, and a resident doctor who makes sure it works the muscles the way it's meant to. The same team works with clients who have an idea of their own, or a machine they want modified to suit them.
"We have a lot of people involved in producing equipment, because it's not just about welding stuff and throwing stuff together. Everything must be calculated, and you need to work with the right muscles."
Werner Dreyer, Founder
Made in-house, all of it.
The frames, the bushings, the plastics. Nothing is outsourced, so parts are always available and quality is in our hands.
Built for violent force.
Imported equipment is often built from 0.8 to 1.2mm steel to protect a thin margin on thousands of units. Elite athletes are explosive enough to break that. Ours is built heavier, because it has to be.
Checked by the owner.
Werner is on the workshop floor every day and checks every delivery himself. Very little leaves without him having looked at it.
The Name
It's not "one more rep." It's one more chance.
Most people assume the name is about grinding out one more rep. It goes deeper than that.
"We always stuff up in life. We miss a workout, we miss a meal. For me, there's always one more chance. Every day is a chance. You don't need to focus on 'one more.' Just make your next workout the best one you can, then keep building on top of that."
Werner Dreyer, Founder
Two things we'll tell you straight.
Our equipment doesn't come back.
Honestly, it's a strange problem for a business to have. What we build lasts so long, with so little wear, that most customers never need to replace it. Manufacturing is manufacturing and defects can happen, and when they do we repair or replace it. But the only time most clients see us again is when they add a new machine or an attachment. We're fine with that. Gym equipment isn't something you buy every year. You should be able to buy right the first time.
South African sport deserves better sports science.
Ask who the strength and conditioning coach of the Proteas is, or of the national swimming team, and most people won't know. The profession is under-recognised here, and the people signing off on equipment budgets often aren't coaches at all. So we don't just sell machines people have never seen. We sit down with coaches, explain why each piece exists, and share what we know through our blog. We've got work to do, and we're doing it.
From the Springboks to your garage.
Every rugby union in South Africa has some of our equipment, and we're privileged to work with some of the best coaches in the country, including the Springbok coaching staff. We're involved with rugby in the United States too.
Up to 90% of what we make is used across sports and athletes: men and women, rugby and netball, and more. The rest is specialist work for swimming, rehabilitation clinics, biokineticists and physios, and hospital teams helping people recover from accidents. And a growing share goes into home gyms, built to exactly the same standard.
Structure your gym, in your space
Selling the equipment is the first part.
Our own installation team sets up every build and runs through it with your staff before they leave. After that, we stay in touch: showing you new attachments, sharing advice, helping your programme grow.
We build that relationship with the institution, not just the coach who bought from us. Coaching staff change every season. When a new coach arrives and wants to throw everything out, we're there to explain what's in the gym and why, so an investment doesn't get wasted.
And anything new we design is built to bolt onto what you already own. An upgrade should never mean starting over.
"For me and for One More Fitness Systems, it's vital that we have a long-term relationship."
Werner Dreyer, Founder
Every machine we make started with a conversation. Tell us about your sport, your squad or your space, and we'll help you work out what to build.
